In 1616 Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog set foot on the sandy shores or Western Australia. 368 years later another Dutchman, photographer Roel Loopers, surveyed the West Coast. He liked what he saw, and even more the wines he tasted, so he stayed and Profile Photography Perth was born in 1984.

From his base in the port city of Fremantle, W.A. Roel specialises in commercial, corporate and industrial photography for the advertising, architecture, arts, building, design, exploration, hospitality, maritime, mining, publishing, resources, and tourism industries, as well as working for a variety of government departments.

He started his career in Holland as a press photographer, before moving to Germany, where he worked for major magazines, daily newspapers and international press agencies.

Roel migrated to Sydney, Australia, in March 1982 and freelanced for designers, government agencies and sport magazines, before crossing the continent to Perth in 1984.

He has exhibited his fine art photography extensively. His work is represented in many corporate and private collections in Australia, Japan, Canada, the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom and Holland.
